State Graduate and Fixed Term Employee Organization (GFTEO) is a working alliance of graduate students, graduate employees, and fixed-term lecturers (FTs) striving to secure health insurance, decent wages, and collective bargaining rights.
Mission
To promote and defend the interests of graduate students and fixed-term lecturers at Penn State
To emphasize, regardless of academic interest, graduate student and fixed-term lecturers’ commonalities as employees
To secure the resources required by graduate students and fixed-term lecturers necessary to enhance Penn State’s excellence in teaching, research, and community service
To guarantee graduate students and fixed-term lecturers a meaningful voice in the administrative decisions that centrally affect employee life
To advance and maintain a democratically elected collective bargaining organization affiliated with a nationally recognized union
To defend against employment discrimination based upon sex, age, race, national origin, color, sexual orientation, political or religious belief, social status, and physical or mental disability
